And it rained.
And the elves and the goblins turned to the sky. They put down their weapons and gazed in wonderment.
They watched, eyes wide open, mesmerised by the falling rain.
It fell onto the ground far below where the elves and goblins were.
And it rained Magic...

This wasn't the first time magic had rained down on the earth. The elves had been goblins and the goblins had been fighting the elves since time began. In fact, many a scholarly elf will tell you that it was the first, and greatest, battle of them all that started time itself. And each time the rains came it meant the rules of the game had changed. It gave both armies a rest and fighting would cease whilst the next chapter of history wrote itself. Each time both sides wondered if this would be the last chapter of all. Both sides knew it probably wasn't. So they sharpened their blades, patched up their wounded, cracked open a tin of spam and waited for the fighting to begin again.

But it helps to know what they were fighting about...

They weren't, as was commonly assumed, fighting over anything. They were fighting for the right to go looking for something. And if one of the armies ever actually found that something... well they could go looking for the other army and start fighting over it.

But when it rained...

It meant the Gods were bored. It meant the Gods had decided to remove fate from the hands of the ever so slightly mad elves and the ever so definitely dangerous goblins and place it in the grasp of someone more deserving.
And the rain was how the God's chose that more deserving individual. As the rain fell, someone, somewhere would find themselves holding fate amongst the raindrops. And when they did, it meant the search was on...

Gertrude was a quiet girl, her only interest were her pet Gerbils. She had four. One day she went to school and left the window nearest the cage open, which was a very silly thing for a girl to do.

And it rained...

They were looking for a stone. Not just any stone. They were looking for the Glearney Stone.

Maybe continued if the Mardibra ever wanders down that mental highway again...
